There are a few key roles directly involved in the recruiting industry. Some of these roles can be found within our company while other positions are not utilized here but do exist within other organizations. Regardless, it’s good to know what they do.
Recruiters represent the candidate; they are given a search assignment and tasked with finding the best-matched, available candidate who can perform the requirements of the open position.
Account Managers represent the client; they are the primary point of contact for the client. Account managers are responsible for driving the recruiting process. They do this by identifying the key qualifiers that the client is looking for and present candidates that match those qualifiers.
The BDMs are responsible for bringing in new business; they target companies who use recruiting services in an effort to acquire new search assignments from those companies.
A sourcing specialist assists the recruiters; they collect the details of job orders and identify leads on candidates who match the requirements of the job. These leads are then shared with the recruiters who with try and initiate communications with the candidates.
This is a hybrid position combining the roles and responsibilities of a BDM, an Account Manager, and a Recruiter. A full desk recruiter is responsible for bringing in new accounts, managing those accounts, as well as recruiting on job orders within their division. This method can often provide a better client experience and allow for more control and knowledge over the recruitment cycle.
The process of finding and acquiring skilled human labor for organizational needs and to meet any labor requirement. When used in the context of the recruiting and HR profession, talent acquisition usually refers to the talent acquisition department or team within the Human Resources department.
A recruiting agency’s main objective is to make a placement by sourcing qualified candidates within and outside of their database. The advantages of using a recruiting agency is that they will do all of the heavy lifting on utilizing a variety of sourcing strategies to include direct-search recruiting. The recruiters in these firms are often times referred to as headhunters because they actively approach fully employed candidates.
Recruitment Process Outsourcing, whether onshore (in the US), nearshore (just outside the US), or offshore (outside the US) is when a company hires a vendor to manage their entire recruiting process which includes the following:
– Advertising
– Marketing
– Sourcing
– Prescreening
– Interviewing
– Filling positions and meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) on the contract
