There are a few ways to end a prescreen call based on the answers you have gathered.
If the candidate is qualified and interested
If the candidate you are prescreening is qualified and interested it is now time to move onto the ISGF interview, but before you do you need to ask just a couple more questions.
First, you want to make sure that the resume you have is the candidates most recent resume. If it’s not, then you will need to ask them if they have one available that they can quickly send you. Conducting an ISGF Interview is much easier if you have the most current and up to date resume.
Next, with ISGF Interviews lasting over 25 minutes in most cases, you need to ask your candidate if they have time to complete the interview now or schedule a call for later. The ISGF Interview is extremely important and you needed to make sure that it will not be rushed or cut short if at all possible.
If the candidate is not qualified
If the candidate is not qualified for the opportunity you are presenting its always good to tell them why this opportunity is not going to be a good match for them. Doing this will also help in maintaining the relationship, remember, just because they are not a fit for this job does not mean they won’t be a good fit for something in the future.
We also want to see if they know anyone that may be a better fit for the role at hand. This may seem like an awkward question but, if the candidate understands why the role is not a good fit for them and knows that you will be looking for something better, they should not have any issues referring someone to you.
If the candidate is not interested
If the candidate is not interested, for any reason, the best thing you can do is find out what would interest them. Figuring out what type of opportunity would interest that candidate will help you identify future positions that may be a better fit. You also want to ask if they know of anyone that would be interested in the opportunity at hand.
