RECRUITING CLASSIFICATIONS

DIRECT HIRE

Sometimes referred to as permanent placement, direct hire is when a client hires us to fill a position directly with that client. In return, we charge a fee that typically consists of a percentage of that candidate’s first-year total compensation. From the first day on the job, this candidate is an employee of the client and will fall under the client’s benefits (if offered) and insurance. This type of placement typically contains a 90-day guarantee where, if the employee quits or is terminated, ISGF will attempt to replace the candidate at no additional charge. Even though you will hear the term permanent placement used to classify this type of position you should refrain from describing a job as a “permanent placement opportunity” to a potential candidate.

Remember that no job is permanent and using that term could place implied liability on us if the candidate is terminated.

CONTRACT

Contract refers to when a client has a project/assignment of short, medium or long duration but at some point, will have an anticipated end date. For a contract position, the client hires us to provide an individual, known as a contractor or consultant, who has the skills necessary to complete the project. In return for doing this, the client will pay us for every hour that the contractor works on that project.  In this situation, ISGF is at all times the employer of the contractor (unless they are Corp-to-Corp C2C) and ISGF is responsible for payroll, taxes, and benefits.

CONTRACT TO HIRE

This type of position is somewhat like a “try before you buy” situation. For this type of placement, the client hires ISGF to fill a role starting on a contract basis, usually 90 days. After the 90 days passes, the client has the option to terminate the contract, extend the contract or hire the consultant as a direct hire employee.

CORP-TO-CORP

Corp to Corp (C2C) is a situation where our client employs our services to place a consultant on a contract or temporary assignment, but the consultant comes from a 3rd part company.

VMS/MSP

Vendor Management System (VMS) and Managed Services Provider (MSP) go hand in hand. Technically speaking, a VMS is a software program used to track and manage the activities of a company’s contract workers and their suppliers, similar to our applicant tracking system (ATS). While an MSP is the 3rd party company hosting/operating the VMS. The main function of the MSP is to manage the vendors (staffing companies) for the “end client”. MSPs relay the end client’s request for contract workers to the vendors. Think of them as the middleman in a contract deal.
